Rentals include bike helmets. We rent car bike racks as well, so that you can check out all the trails in the area.

Galena River Trail, Galena, IL - 3.5 mile trail (7 miles roundtrip), crushed limestone surface, mostly flat, begins at Galena Boat landing, on southeast side, below Hwy 20 bridge in Galena. Beautiful tree-lined path with excellent views of the Galena River.

Heritage Trail, Dubuque, IA - 26 mile trail, crushed limestone surface, begins on US52, three miles north of Dubuque.

Cheese Country Recreation Trail, Mineral Point WI - 55 mile trail, crushed limestone surface, begins in Mineral Point, WI, and continues to Monroe, WI.

Rolling Country Roads

Hard work deserves rewards, just like challenging hill climbs present breathtaking views. If you are brave enough to take on the Galena Hills, you'll be glad you took the challenge, because the panoramic views are like none other in the Midwest. The routes we've mapped out are on remote country roads where traffic is minimal. Stop in our store and request maps for the routes listed below. Color Topo maps are $1.00 each.

Sinsinawa Mound Loop - 24 miles, paved. This gorgeous route will take you by the historic Sinsinawa Mound Convent.

Menomonee Loop - 18 miles; 90% paved, 10% gravel. Head toward Sinsinawa, then turn off into the lovely rural town of Menomonee.

Vinegar Hill Mine Loop - 15.9 miles; 90% paved, 10% gravel. This gorgeous route will take you by the historic Vinegar Hill Mine. Why not stop in for a tour?

Pilot Knob Road - 17 miles out and back, paved. Probably the least challenging of all country road routes, this route takes you to the base of the Chestnut Mountain Resort on the shore of the Mighty Mississippi.

Rocky/Cemetary Road Loop - 16 miles, paved. This rolling route has some dangerous curves, so SLOW DOWN—not only for safety, but also so that you may enjoy the breathtaking panorama of JoDaviess County from the southeast. Only the brave an bold challenge Rocky Hill Road.
